He is not here but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,” - Luke 24:6
I’ve been in a number of conversations lately where I hear people talking about trying to find the right answer or trying to determine the next right steps in the midst of confusing and difficult circumstances. Even in my own life, there are multiple decisions looming that need to be saturated with wisdom and discernment.
As I’m reading through the Gospel of Luke, I am struck by the conversation recorded in Luke 24. The women who had prepared spices and ointments for Jesus’ body had been waiting for the Sabbath to end in order to properly prepare Jesus’ crucified body. But when they arrived at the tomb, his body wasn’t there. Scripture uses one word (perplexed) to describe all their reactions. They were confused, without words, embarrassed, and left wondering and doubting what to do next.
It’s in this confusion they encountered two angels who ask them a pointed question: “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5b)
Then they called the women back to the words of Jesus himself: “That the Son of Man must be delivered in to the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” (Luke 24:7)
Remembering these words changed everything for them.In your circumstances, where are you seeking help? Are you looking in the right places for wisdom and discernment? What scriptures help you remember the truth about Jesus and your identity in him?
