This first sermon will be the most prophetic sounding of the teachings as we unpack Jesus’ answer to his disciple’s question: “When will these things be, and what will be the sign when all of these things are about to be accomplished?” (Mark 13:4). While we will try to identify as many historic events as possible (like destruction of temple in Jerusalem, etc…) and point to any potentially future realities (coming of the Son of man – end of the world.); our focus will be to encourage our people to learn watch with eternally focused eyes and hearts as the day draws near. This is what Jesus is getting at for those who follow him. He wants to find us watching and awake when he returns. How would we live differently if we knew Jesus was coming back today? This is how we are called to live every day – watching and awake.
