A Branch

December 4, 2022 | Jeremiah 33:14-16

This sermon will kick off the Christmas season preaching about the coming Christ described in Jeremiah as a righteous Branch that will spring up from David. There are many prophecies that speak of a root, branch, stump, etc… all alluding to the One who be Messiah and grow from the eternal throne of King David. On this Sunday, with “how lovely are you branches” being sung for the holidays, we will sing of a Branch who came to save us from our sin. This baby in a manger will be called (as Jeremiah says) “The Lord is our righteousness” because he will make us righteous by his death, burial, and resurrection.
