Power Over Evil

Date: April 8, 2019

Two demon-possessed men began screaming at Jesus, “Why are you interfering with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before God’s appointed time?” There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding in the distance. So, the demons begged, “If you cast us out, send us into that herd of pigs.”  “All right go!” Jesus commanded them. So, the demons came out of the men and entered the pigs, and the whole herd plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water. Then the entire town came out to meet Jesus. Matthew 8:28-34 NLT

I was asked by someone recently if I ever talk to Satan. I told her that I rarely do because I would rather give attention and authority to Jesus than to my enemy. Demons are no match for the power of Jesus. However, you have an enemy that hates you and his entire purpose of existence is to steal, kill and destroy your life. But Satan doesn’t need your money or possessions so what can he steal from you?

What are the lies of Satan that you’re believing right now? Are you giving evil more power than you should in your life? How does evil manifest itself in your life?

Anxiety and depression are sweeping through our society. “Historians will probably call our era ‘the age of anxiety.’ Anxiety is the natural result when our hopes are centered in anything short of God and His will for us.”  When Billy Graham wrote those words in 1965, no one knew how true they would be 50 years later.

Your enemy wants you to forget that Jesus has the authority over sin and darkness. Satan can’t have us because Jesus has bought us!
