“There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him” Proverbs 6:16
Today’s devotional might seem a little out of character for my style. Generally, I’m reading through a book of the Bible and a series of devotionals begin to emerge that I then write on. However good or not, I try to find a story or scenario that paints a “real life” picture of the Scriptural truth and trust that the Holy Spirit will let the words travel rightly and deeply into those who read them.
Today, I found myself just saying, “let the Word speak for itself.” So, without further ado, and hopefully with no strings attached, I ask you to take a deep breath, ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind to rightly guide you over the following words. Keep them personal. Like a mirror, hold them up against yourself and let them reveal truth to you. Allow the Holy Spirit to have control. Know there is safety in him.
“There are six things that the LORD hates — no, seven things he detests:
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent,
a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family.”
Proverbs 6:16-19 (NLT)
“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a right spirit within me”
Psalm 51:10 (ESV)
