But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57
Let’s face it – summer is over.
Ok, maybe it’s not officially over, but those precious moments of rest and recharge are quickly being replaced by a drop back into the routine and rhythm of the school year. Schedules are filling up, registration forms are due, and school supplies are all over the store shelves.
Today let’s take advantage of one, final, fleeting moment of summertime to look back on the victories of the past few months. Did your family grow closer on a vacation? Did you finish that book or stick to that habit? Did the smell of a campfire or the cool breeze offer to lift your spirits? Did you steal some moments of simple joy with your spouse?
Life is a journey – and we often fill our time and attention with those ceaseless questions “what’s next?” and “what do I need to plan for?” But thank God today for the blessings he has provided. And above all remember that the victory that comes through our Lord Jesus Christ transcends schedules and seasons.
Make a list of your summer “victories." Pause for a moment of thanksgiving over each of them.
