Serving Opportunities

Do you love to hang out with kids? We need volunteers to be with the kids of our Celebrate Recovery participants. This group will meet from 5:30-8:00pm on Mondays. You can serve weekly or every other week. Children may range from birth to high school.

Have you got the gift of hospitality? We are looking for individuals to be a welcoming presence at our Celebrate Recovery program on Monday evenings. We are also looking for individuals to walk the halls and pray over the rooms where the groups are meeting.

Are you someone who enjoys working behind the scenes? We need volunteers to help clean and maintain our Community Center. Tasks could include light custodial work such as cleaning and stocking rest rooms, setting up events, taking out the trash, and keeping the building running smoothly. If serving others is your love language, we need you!

Are you looking for an opportunity to serve but have a life schedule that prevents you from having consistent availability? Consider joining our event support team. This team will provide support for special events taking place at the Bloomington Campus and Community Center. Options for serving could include helping set up, helping clean up, serving guests, and overseeing various activities or games. 

Do you enjoy for serving and meeting people and have heart for helping people meet basic physical and spiritual needs? Our food pantry serves families throughout McLean County. We need volunteers to help us serve our guests through greeting, checking-in, praying, shopping, loading out, or follow-up care phone calls.

Do you have a heart for helping people overcome food insecurity but prefer to work and help behind the scenes? Our food pantry serves over 500 families a month. We need volunteers to enter data, pick-up deliveries, maintain stock, and stock shelves.

Are you fluent in Spanish or French? We need your help connecting with members of the community who do not speak English as a first language. Opportunities to serve arise throughout the year through various registrations and programs. 

Did you know that many kids don’t have enough to eat at home? Our School Backpack Program provides bags of food for elementary school kids as well as stocking mini food pantries at several of our junior high and high schools. Bags are packed every other Wednesday evening for the elementary kids and every other Thursday for the older kids. Time commitment is about 1 hour per week.

Do you like to sew, or would you like to help with sewing projects? This group meets on the first and fourth Monday of the month at the Eastview Community Center (602 S. Main St, Bloomington). We work on items for our local and global partners. No sewing skills are required, as we also need help with cutting, ironing, and finishing projects.

This is a monthly serving opportunity for a group to purchase, prep and serve a meal for Home Sweet Home Ministries residents and community members. 

Does your small group love to be with kids? We need you to play with and provide childcare for our Celebrate Recovery participants.

Your small group is requested to provide, serve, and clean up the meal for the Celebrate Recovery participants and leaders once a month.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals or small groups to serve our Food Pantry guests. One Sunday per quarter in January, April, July, and October we collect items needed by our Food Pantry. 

We have built a Little Free Pantry with the help of Illinois Wesleyan University and the Regional Alternative School to be housed at the Eastview Community Center. 

We invite your small group to serve the students of The Jule Foundation once a month on either a Tuesday or Thursday evening.  

Volunteers are needed to deliver backpacks or bins to schools on Monday and Friday Morning bi-weekly.

Do you have a heart for hospitality and making people feel welcome? We need individuals to serve as Door Greeters and hand out the nightly program literature. 

We need individuals to run the sound and light system during the worship portion of Celebrate Recovery.

The Event Host will help unlock the building, direct people to rooms, answer questions, and meet needs that arise during the event, and lock up the building at the end of the event. 

Are you a behind-the-scenes kind of person? We need volunteers to help set up and tear down various events at the Community Center.  

Are you retired or have a flexible schedule? Do you like to drive? We are looking for substitute drivers for the Food Pantry. 

The Front Desk Host will assist with directing people to various rooms, answering questions, and meeting needs that arise during their shift.

Help keep our guests safe at the Community Center. We have opportunities to serve during the weekdays, evenings, weekends, and special events. 

Math, Science, and foreign Language(s) tutors are needed. You will provide academic support to The Jule Foundation student body to help them maintain a path of success.
