Elder Update September 30, 2023
Sep 30, 2023
Thank you so much for the time and attention you have given to these updates over the past months. Our desire has been to provide you with helpful and timely information as we make our way through this season as a church family.
As we move forward, our highly qualified communications staff believes October is the right time to transition from providing weekly elder updates to updates primarily about the search process for our new Lead Pastor. Please know the elders will continue to post updates to the congregation when needed, and we will continue to monitor the Elders@eastview.church email address and respond to the emails we receive.
As we begin that transition, then, here are a few things that have been areas of focus during the past few weeks:
- We have begun to put together a Lead Pastor Search Committee made up of staff members, elder team members and congregation members. We will be sharing more information on that team, comprised of men and women, and their roles/responsibilities in upcoming weeks.
- The staff has continued to hold Change Process meetings and smaller discussion groups to help in the process of healing and restoration, and Kelly Fabian Story from Wagenmaker and Oberly continues to facilitate monthly repair training opportunities.
- The staff team responsible for conducting the valuing women survey is preparing to share the results of the survey and associated recommendations for improvement with the staff next week. The elders had the opportunity to meet with this team Thursday morning, and we are deeply grateful to these nine men and women for all the time and energy they have devoted to this important work.
So, lots of work remains to be done. It isn’t easy, but we know how important it is. And we remain hopeful and excited to see how God is going to refine and grow us all and what he has in store for us in the future. Keep praying!
