As we move forward, our highly qualified communications staff believes October is the right time to transition from providing weekly elder updates to updates primarily about the search process for our new Lead Pastor. The post this week is brief as there are no new updates to share. The elders want to thank all of the volunteer leaders who attended the fireside chat meeting last Sunday; it was encouraging and humbling to meet with so many from our church family who dearly love Eastview.

Our search consultants from Slingshot Group have concluded their discovery work with the elders, staff, and church members, and the candidate profile for our Lead Pastor role has been posted on Slingshot’s website. The elders are sincerely grateful to the many people who participated in this important process. We are very excited to have reached this important milestone in the life of our church and for the next leader that God is preparing to serve at Eastview.

Wow, it’s September. Letting that sink in for a moment, we realize that the transition from summer to fall is beginning and the signs of entering a new season are becoming visible. In many ways, the same can be said about approaching a new season at Eastview.

“Seasons” seems like an appropriate analogy for reflecting on the life of our church this year. We have come through a season of crisis in which the future was uncertain. We are grateful for everyone who joined us for Vision Sunday to celebrate the many ways God continues to work through Eastview—what an incredible opportunity we have to impact our community and the world. Speaking of community, Sunday marked the renewed launch of Love My Community, we’re asking the entire church family to catch this vision. On your own, with your family, and in your small groups, please join us in praying daily to recognize and engage opportunities to show Christ’s love to the people we encounter.
